I would pick more than one. The civil war era I would vote for as I love the clothes from that time frame. Addy dosen't have the fancy clothes.
An asian girl in San francisco would be neat. I also would like to see the Jewish immigrant in New York. Now we would need sceens and settings for these dolls.

Chinese Girl from 1884
Or
Hawaiian Girl from 1894 after Queen Lili'uokalani

I always thought it would be cool if they made a Pilgrim girl who settled with her family near Plymouth Rock, Mass. in 1624.

Hey FelinaDoon, thanks for including on your list a Hawaiian girl... and also for your reference to our last Queen of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Lili'uokalani. Not a bad idea at all. In fact, I think that would be my first choice, but I am totally biased. Hawaii has such a unique history apart from the rest of the United States. A Hawaiian AG doll would be very cool. Hey, and she would be able to hula and surf, too.
My second and third choices would be the Russian Jewish immigrant from NY and the Chinese girl from California.

I think that a Jewish immigrant doll would be interesting . I would like her to have the Ellis Island experience but move to another city. We already have two New Yorkers- Samantha and Nellie. She should relocate to Boston so that the historic value of that area can be shown. I would make her story be from the 1880s so that her wardrobe would be different from Samantha's.

I dont think a 1920s girl would be too similar to Kit at all. The hair maybe but other than that. The clothing and furniture and culture of that time is VERY distinct and I dont think it could get confused with the 30s. I think Molly and Kit are more alike, in fact, Im surprised that they made a 30s doll before a 20s character. As for the 60s idea, I dont think that would be too modern. I mean, when AG was first created Molly was living in a time period only forty years before, thats the same differance now to the 60s era.

I really want them to make a Puritan/Pilgrim girl, since it is such essential values to the American people.
I once took a class on how the puritan ideas and the story of the Pilgrim fathers still higly affects the American society of today, it was very interesting and there were so many things, that I understood so much better about things like American politics afterwards, it really was an eye-opener.
Also her collection wouldn't be that big, so it would be so costly to collect it all, as it is to collect say Samantha.

Why not write some of your own, and/or make custom dolls?
I did this when I was younger. I imagined following a whole line of women/girls. The 10 year old in one book being the mother in the next.
I did Felicity, and wrote stories folowing her female progeny all the way to 1984. I covered almost every theme you mentioned! LOL I even made book covers and printed them to look like the then current AG covers.
I had a handicapped (deaf) girl, a half chinese girl, a hippie, a flapper. It sounds implausible, but after researching my family tree I realized just how many unique women we have in one family alone.
I never made the dolls , because I didn't/don't have that kind of diposible money, but I see how it would be very possible.
I'm thinking of rewriting them again now that I can write a little better and have more knowledge of history.
In the begining Pleasent Company actually encouraged this as an activity in the teacher/library materials! (my mother was a grade school teacher so I had all of the teacher stuff)

I love all your ideas but what I'd most like to see is a 1950s doll. The clothes, music, etc. were great and I think AG could do a great job with them. I also think they'd be highly marketable, which has to be the top consideration for AG.
